If you want to enjoy playing poker, it is essential to know what hands you should fold or bet on. Let's have a look at the different combinations of poker hands, ranking from lowest to highest value.
High card / Kicker
It is the highest out of the five cards, when you have not made any of the higher combinations.
In addition, the highest card works as a tiebeaker when there are two or more players with the same combination. In these cases, it is called Kicker.
One pair
A pair is when you have two cards of the same rank. The pair of Aces is the most powerful one and the pair of 2 is the weakest one.
Two Pair
It is when you have two different pairs of cards.
Three of a kind
It is when you have three cards of the same rank. It is also called a Set.
Straight
It is when your five cards are in sequence.
Flush
A Flush is when you have 5 non-consecutive cards of the same suit.
Full House
It is when you have three of a kind and one pair together.
Four of a Kind
It is when you have four cards of the same rank.
Straight Flush
A combination of Straight and Flush. It is when you have five consecutive cards of the same suit.
Royal Flush.
The most powerful hand in poker. It is a Straight Flush (five consecutive cards of the same suit) in its highest combination, that is a 10-J-Q-K-A.
